A Thought that I Keep Thinking By Donna Himel
Thursday, January 21st, 2010
Driving home from yoga last night, I was listening to The Vortex by Esther Hicks for the umpteenth time and was once again blown away by the powerful ideas contained in this remarkable CD. The idea I want to share with you today is the premise that “a belief is just a thought that you keep thinking.” A belief is just a pattern of thought that you have developed. It is a habitual way of looking at and thinking about something. This is so powerful because it is our beliefs which control the destiny of our lives!
I’ve heard this before a dozen times and will probably hear it again a dozen more before it truly sinks in because it goes so against everything we were taught to believe. Most of us are taught to “focus on reality”; to “believe it when we see it” or to “tell it like it is”, but the exact opposite is actually true. We have to believe it before we see it, we have to focus on what we want and we have to tell it like we want it to be. If we are thinking repetitive thoughts which are not serving us such as “I’m not worthy” or “no pain without gain” or “things just don’t work out for me” then it is time to think different thoughts if we want different results. There will be times when this will be easier said than done. This is when we have to pretend, fantasize and imagine what we want until these new thoughts and ideas become our reality.
If you want things to continue the way they are in any area of life then just keep thinking the same thoughts. If you want things to be better in any area of your life, then you have to commit to thinking new thoughts until they become predominant beliefs. Act as if until the more empowering thought becomes your principal way of thinking. If you do this consistently, you will create a new vibration and begin to attract wonderful things into your life.
There are always going to be challenges. We are always going to be seeking expansion and reaching for something better. There will be especially difficult times in our lives when it feels almost impossible to think the opposite of what we are experiencing but we have to remain committed to changing our beliefs if we want to attract improved results into our lives. We can change our current reality and the course of our lives by changing our thoughts and beliefs!
