Self Confidence – Recognize Who You Really Are!

Self Confidence – Recognize Who You Really Are!

    Monday, December 14th, 2009

The first step toward loving yourself and living your spirit is to recognize who you really are.  So many of us have been brought up to believe that we’re unacceptable, sinful and contemptible beings.  Self-love starts with knowing that we are Spirit.  Yes, we have physical bodies, personalities, egos, histories and experiences but we are not those things.

If you truly want to get in touch with your Spirit, just ask yourself what you love.  Put your favorite music on and answer that question on paper.  Let the words flow and write down everything that brings you joy.  You will feel your spirit awaken and come alive and be so excited to be recognized.  Those things you love are your Spirit talking to you and wanting to express itself through you.  Following those passions is how you live in Spirit.

It is valuable to understand the temperament of your spirit.  There are five basic temperaments of Spirit:

    1) The Earth Spirit:  earth spirits are very slow, methodical and grounded.  They don’t like to be rushed and they don’t like change.  They are reliable and dependable but slow and steady.

    2) The Etheric Spirit:  etheric spirits make everyone crazy.   They are the ones to tell you that you need to see a therapist if you’re struggling with something.  They are the ones who walk into a room and make everyone run.  They’re quite demanding and totally confused about why everyone gets stressed out trying to carry out the big visions or plans they make.

    3) The Water Spirit:  water spirits are very sensitive and emotional with you.  They totally resonate with you.  They invented the Omega Hug where they hug you for eight minutes and then ask you your name.  They are the ones who say, come sit on my lap and tell me about it.  They also invented Kleenex and are very sweet and gentle spirits.

    4) The Air Spirit:  air spirits are the messengers.  They want, need and gather information.  Then they are the first to tell you what you should do.  They love to buy books and usually give them away to others who they feel need to read the book.

    5) The Fire Spirit:  fire spirits are action spirits.  They want to get things done, they want change.  They are the ones who scream, “Fire” just for the fun of watching people move.  Their motto is “hurry up, hurry up, and hurry up.”  They are always pushing for change and are either going 90 miles per hour or are fried from going so hard.  They invented marathons and Nikes.  Their way of consoling others is to tell them to “Get over it, go work it out.  Sweat!”

Most of us are a combination of two temperaments.  Look at your combination and think about what’s missing and practice paying attention to your strengths and weaknesses.  Once you recognize your own basic temperament you can begin to recognize others as well and become sensitive to their spirit.  You’ll know you don’t run to an earth spirit with an emergency or go to a fire spirit when you are sad about something and need some sympathy.  You’ll also recognize that if you are launching a major project, you will need a fire spirit because they get things done.  When life’s too chaotic, you need an earth spirit to ground you.
