Self Confidence: ‘The Quick and Easy Way to Effective Speaking’ by Dale Carnegie

Good public speakers are made, not born - or so thinks Dale Carnegie, the pioneer of personal business skills. Yet business, social and personal satisfaction depend heavily upon a person's ability to communicate clearly. Public speaking is an important skill which anyone can acquire and develop. It is also the very best method of overcoming self-consciousness and building up courage, enthusiasm and self-confidence. This classic, well established title has been called 'the most brilliant book of its kind'. It takes you step by step through: acquiring basic skills; developing confidence; speaking effectively the quick and easy way; earning the right to talk; vitalizing your talk; and sharing the talk with the audience as well as organization, presentation and other skills.

Self Confidence – Recognize Who You Really Are!

The first step toward loving yourself and living your spirit is to recognize who you really are. So many of us have been brought up to believe that we’re unacceptable, sinful and contemptible beings. Self-love starts with knowing that we are Spirit. Yes, we have physical bodies, personalities, egos, histories and experiences but we are not those things.

Perception is reality — Build self confidence for self improvement

One of the key ingredients to a successful life is belief in one's self. Without self confidence how can you hope to meet the challenges that you are bound to face in life? You must believe that you are worthy of the things you desire. Do not let past setbacks or failures stand in your way. You are living in the present and this is where your actions will count. Remember the errors of yesterday only to learn from them. Use this knowledge to avoid the same pitfalls in the future.

Appreciate Life’s Lessons by Donna Himel

Everything that has happened in your life, no matter how magnificent or painful, has been a stepping stone into making you the person you are today. Wayne Dyer teaches in Secrets to Manifesting Your Destiny that you have to take full responsibility for your life and lose the notion that you are a helpless victim to circumstances or events. Learn to appreciate your past. Don’t lose yourself in guilt or remorse about things which you cannot change. Accept, appreciate and move on.

    Forgive and Forget Your Past

An important step to take in empowering your life is to forgive yourself for everything that has happened in your past. Recognize that you did everything you had the knowledge to do and were capable of doing so with your consciousness level at the time. Don’t waste valuable life energy stressing over mistakes or so called “failures. " This only keeps you from utilizing the creative and powerful energy you need to build the life of your dreams. One of my favorite quotes from Wayne Dyer, an inspirational teacher and speaker, is “the past is like the wake of the boat; it is only the trail which has been left behind. What drives your life today is your present moment energy.”

    The Real Issue

Most of the time when we are upset it is not for the reason we think it is. "My boss said something to me I didn't like, my girlfriend hurt my feelings, my kids are driving me crazy". These are all things we may have been upset about, but the real issue is almost always something deeper. Is it an underlying feeling of inadequacy?

    Failure

“Do not be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better. What if they are a little coarse, and you may get your coat soiled or torn? What if you do fail, and get fairly rolled in the dirt once or twice? Up again; you shall never be so afraid of a tumble.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

    Dealing with Rejection

"Often we allow ourselves to be upset by small things we should despise and forget. We lose many irreplaceable hours brooding over grievances that, in a year's time, will be forgotten by us and by everybody. No, let us devote our life to worthwhile actions and feelings, to great thoughts, real affections and enduring undertakings." - Andre Maurois - 1885-1967, Writer With cold calling comes rejection. It is not the rejection itself that determines our success, but rather how we handle this rejection. By fearing rejection and maintaining an attitude of doom and gloom about cold calling, we are limiting our chances for success. If we think we will not succeed at something, or we look at it in a negative way, there is a very high likelihood we will experience failure. If we truly believe in our hearts that we are not good at something, then it is human nature to not give it our best efforts. Also, if failure and defeat are the personas you carry, this negative energy will be very apparent to your prospects. We must handle rejection in a positive manner in order to instill a belief of success within our brains. A great strategy is to offset negative feelings of failure on our brains by replacing them with feeling of positive successes. You can do this by consciously scheduling your day by sandwiching potentially negative sales activities, where you may experience several “No’s” within a short amount of time, between two events or tasks that you know will have positive outcomes.
