How to Change Your Life by Changing your Sensory Input
Friday, December 11th, 2009
If you’re wondering how to change your life then you have to change the way you perceive life. For example three people see a red Porsche on the road, and all three perceive it differently. One person thinks he can’t buy a Porsche, the second thinks what he can do to buy one, and the third person is already planning to buy a whole Porsche dealership!
What we “see” depends on what filters we have operating in our lives. We only see and hear what we are conditioned to see. Human power lies in the capacity to choose. Unfortunately, the cultures we grow up in, by and large, do not teach us how to make true life affirming choices. Instead we are taught not to “rock the boat” and to follow the status quo.
One of the most powerful ideas I’ve ever encountered is The Stickman Concept. A little history first; it was first developed by Dr. Thurman Fleet in the 1930’s and Bob Proctor has been teaching it for the last 40 years.
It is a visual representation of how our mind works, and it concisely demonstrates how it’s true that “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” It gives you a visual image of some of the most abstract but fundamental principles of success, something you can see, and something that helps you change your life.
We all go through stages in our lives. Hopefully we learn from our errors and past mistakes. The idea is to grow from them.
Life is only as real as we make it to be. In all actuality life is just an illusion. Obstacles of our past can become the bridge that lead to new beginnings.
Working towards changing your thoughts is a choice we make using our free will. This is one of the key skills of awareness. And if you lack this skill, then you cannot have the happiness that you are looking for.
And if you think you happiness is as a result of your thoughts, then you will always work towards changing your thoughts. It all depends on how you perceive life to be. Either you are in control or you are controlled. What do you think?
